MiraCosta College’s new Student Services & Administration Building at the San Elijo Campus will replace the existing, outdated Administration Building and serve as a modern and welcoming campus gateway. The new building will also consolidate key student services, including Admissions & Records, Counseling, and Financial Aid, into a central location and enhance the ability of staff to serve the student body.
The MiraCosta College Theatre Department presents Love/Sick written by John Cariani. The play opens on Thursday, October 3, at the MiraCosta College Theatre (Bldg. 2200), located at 1 Barnard Drive, Oceanside. Eric Bishop will direct.
A college degree might not be for everyone, but the opportunity to work in manufacturing and engineering could be for the more than 1,100 students who will attend the Second Annual North County Manufacturing and Engineering Day Expo, 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., October 1, 2019, at California State University, San Marcos.

A single mom and one-time high school dropout, Alfaro turned to MiraCosta College when she heeded her parents’ advice about the importance of a good education, and has gone on to earn a bachelor’s degree from California State University, San Marcos and a master’s degree from San Diego State University. Her iconic photo in cap and gown with her farmworker parents in a Carlsbad strawberry field after she earned her master’s degree went viral and made headlines around the world.

Roadtrip Nation is coming to MiraCosta College. As part of a partnership with the California Community Colleges that included a three-week summer tour for a documentary detailing how notable community college graduates found their field of work, the nonprofit Roadtrip Nation will be parking its signature green RV at the Oceanside Campus on September 26, to introduce its Roadmap to Careers tool and other resources aimed at helping students focus on a pathway to a profession for which they have a passion.
When it comes to providing for hungry students, MiraCosta College is kicking it up a notch with a new Mobile Food Pantry to complement services that already include a MiraCosta Cares Farmers Market and a long-established campus pantry that provides an emergency sack lunch or snack for any student in need of a meal.
Whatever the hurdle, many people never finish high school, only to discover that the degree they are missing is stalling their career. But now, adult learners can study for and take their high school equivalency test through the MiraCosta College Community Learning Center and walk next door to the college’s new testing center and take their exam--all for free.

Award-winning actor and community activist Edward James Olmos, poet and bestselling author Erika Sanchez, and local hero Erica Alfaro will be the keynote speakers when MiraCosta College hosts the Latino Book & Family Festival at its Oceanside Campus on September 28, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Parking is free.

MiraCosta College’s fall 2019 late-start classes begin September 3, with hundreds of classes in a range of subjects that conclude at the same time as “regular” courses. Late-start classes are offered days, evenings, weekends, and online. Now is the time to work toward a degree or certificate, get started in the workplace, transfer to a four-year university, enroll for personal enrichment, professional growth, or to gain a new skill.
MiraCosta College’s latest construction project comes complete with a green roof and vertical garden adorned with succulents and solar panels producing energy stored in a row of batteries to illuminate the structure at night. Built by students in the Materials and Construction course and based on plans developed by the Architectural Design class, the Sustainable Design Structure sits along a pathway between the Theatre and Administration Building at the Oceanside Campus and serves as a model of environmentally sensitive engineering.
It was the trip of a lifetime. MiraCosta College student Melina Martinez returns to school this fall following a three-week summer tour across California for a Roadtrip Nation documentary featuring visits with a dozen notable community college graduates—from Sacramento Police Chief Daniel Hahn to Telemundo co-founder Frank Cruz—who discussed their journey to a meaningful career.
The English Language Institute (ELI) offers international students the opportunity to increase their English language proficiency and develop the skills needed to succeed at a college or university in the United States. This eight-week intensive English as a second language (ESL) program provides individualized instruction in small class sizes. The program is designed for students with a minimum of one year of English language training at high school or college level. This class may not be appropriate for advanced ESL students or students with a TOEFL score greater than 500 paper-based or 46 IBT. Students must be at least 18 years old or meet our minor policy requirements. Our International Students Office will issue I‑20’s. We accept students with an F-1 or B visitor visa or any visa where “enrichment” or “study” is permissible.
The eighth MiraCosta College Annual Donor Scholar Celebration honoring more than 310 students and their successes will be held on Friday, August 16, from 4–5:15 p.m. The celebration will be at the Oceanside Campus near the Fountain and Clock Tower, located at 1 Barnard Drive, Oceanside, CA 92056. The event provides students the opportunity to celebrate their successes with donors who funded $367,550 in scholarships that are so critical to student success.
MiraCosta College this fall is rolling out an array of new certificate and degree programs providing the skills needed to land good-paying jobs and transfer credentials that can lock up a seat at a California State University campus.

MiraCosta Community College District's (MCCD) Board of Directors has approved the award of a contract to modernize an existing classroom building at the district's San Elijo Campus. The $2,601,000 contract was awarded to Conan Construction, which has offices in Encinitas and National City.

The Board of Trustees of the MiraCosta Community College District is seeking qualified, interested individuals to serve on a committee of community leaders, who will operate as the Independent Citizens’ Bond Oversight Committee (ICBOC) for the implementation of the district’s Measure MM college facilities bond program.
MiraCosta College—which in 2014 became among the first community colleges in the nation to endow a scholarship dedicated to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender students—has unveiled yet another scholarship for the LGBTQIA+ community.
MiraCosta College Celebrates Groundbreaking for Major Renovationof Oceanside Campus Athletic Field7/22/2019
The groundbreaking ceremony to mark the start of the renovation of the athletic track and field MiraCosta College's Oceanside campus was held on Thursday, July 18th. First built in the early 1980’s, the outdated track will be replaced with a world-class soccer and athletics field that will meet size requirements for international competition and a new Field House with space for team rooms, changing rooms, coaches’ offices, equipment storage, and ADA-compliant restrooms.
